Out of nine listed fishermen cooperative societies... 展开 During the present study the constraints faced by the fishermen cooperative societies of Kharagpur sub-division of Paschim Medinipur district, West Bengal was critically examined. Out of nine listed fishermen cooperative societies, two societies namely Modern and Dantan Sarsanka Fishermen Cooperative Societies Ltd. were selected purposively, considering maximum fish production performed by them during last three years. The response from the chairman, secretary, one director and seven general members at random from each society were recorded in a pre-structured schedule developed for this purpose. Five broad areas of constraints i.e. social, economic, technical, marketing and general constraints were selected for the study. Each constraint area was further divided into different specific aspects as required. The fishermen of the societies perceived the social constraints with the highest intensity. The non-availability of assured market under marketing constraints and lack of water during summer and lack of soil and water testing facilities under technical constraints were also most important constraints. 收起
