The study also identifies the factors that distinguish members f... 展开 This study examines the economic performance of water users' cooperatives (WUCS) in the Cauvery Basin (Karnataka, India) across different levels of water governance. The study also identifies the factors that distinguish members from non-members of WUCS. The study covered three WUCS and collected data from a sample of 90 farmers. Results reveal differences in net returns between head and tail reach farms, which indicates differences in water sharing among farmer societies. Among the factors motivating a farmer to become a member of WUCS, the size of holding was the most important, followed by the ratio of groundwater irrigation to total irrigation. 收起
