At the same time, 27 of th... 展开 In April 2001 to May 2002, new plant protection products, one herbicide and two insecticides with active ingredients that have been used for sometime in farming and non-farming areas, have been launched. At the same time, 27 of the active ingredientwithdrawals, which have been decided and which will soon be enforced, concern products used in non-farming areas and on ornamental crops. The most important decision concerns two molecules which have been subject to EU scrutiny, parathion-ethyl [parathion] and zineb, and which will be prohibited from use as of 30 and 22 September 2002, respectively. The 25 other molecules will be banned from use at the end of 2003 at the latest (manufacture will be halted at the end of this year) owing to the fact thattheir manufacturers have withdrawn support and they are, thus, no longer recognized by the European authorities. The group is made up of 12 herbicides, 6 fungicides, 5 insecticides/acaricides and 2 growth regulators. Two decisions for withdrawal have also been taken concerning terbuthylazine and simazin [simazine]. It has also been decided to reduce the authorized dosage levels for diuron, and even to ban the use of this active ingredient between 1 November and 2 March.
