For others, withdrawal is ongoing or imminent. Within the framework of the European registration review (directive 91/414), four of the sixteen molecules withdrawn after review concern grapevine production, i.e. DNOC, chlozolinate, zineb and ethyl-parathion [parathion]. Furthermore, more than 300 substances are expected to be withdrawn in 2003, having lost the backing of their manufacturers, who will not be putting them forward for re-registration. Of these products, fifty or so are still used in France, some of them on grapevines. In France too, the Ministry of Agriculture announced its intention to rapidly withdraw sodium arsenite and also, but over time, most triazines, which as far as vines are concerned will mean the disappearance of simazine.
