One compounded feed (4... 展开 The present study deals with the effect of compounded feed and live feeds on early growth and breeding of nest building ornamental fish Chinese paradise Macropodus opercularis reared for a period of 42 days. One compounded feed (40% protein level) and two live feeds such as chironomous fly larvae and Tubifex were used for feed utilization studies. Feed consumption was higher in fish fed with live feed chironomus fly larvae. Percentage growth and net growth efficiency were higher in fish fed with compounded feed. The number of eggs laid by the fish and hatching percentage was higher in fish fed with chironomus fly larvae. The spawning frequency was once in 16 days when Macropodus opercularis was fed with chironomus fly larvae, 25 days for Tubifex and 33 days for compounded feed.. 收起
