The silkworms were fed on mulberry leaves fortified wi... 展开 A study was conducted to evaluate the effect of locally available feed fortificants on the performance of mulberry silkworm hybrid CSR₂ x CSR₄ (BV x BV). The silkworms were fed on mulberry leaves fortified with 25:75 ratio of horse gram:grain amaranthus, grain amaranthus:green gram and grain amaranthus:moongdahl supplied at 1:50 or 1:100 flour:leaf ratio; 25:75 ratio of dried prawn:ragi supplied at 1:50 flour:leaf ratio; and the control. Feeding with horse gram:grain amaranthus at 1:50 ratio, at 150 micro particle size showed maximum larval weight of 3.906 g, cocoon weight of 2.131 g, pupal weight of 1.658 g, shell weight of 0.478 g, fibroin content of 76.41, silk gland tissue somatic index of 24.56%, filament length of 1046.89 m, finer denier (2.29) and lesser sericin (23.76%) when given supplements until spinning, compared to the unsupplemented control. 收起
