Information on Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) pool was generated in Champawat district of Uttarakhand. The soil samples collected from forests, orchards and plantations were analysed for organic carbon, bulk density and coarse fragments. SOC pool was estimated in Sal (<i>Shorea robusta</i>), Deodar (<i>Cedrus deodara</i>), Quercus (<i>Quercus leucotrichophora</i>), Chir (<i>Pinus roxburghii</i>), Miscellaneous and Kail (<i>Pinus wallichiana</i>) species in forest areas. In orchards, the SOC was estimated in Mango (<i>Mangifera indica</i>) and Leechi (<i>Leechi chinensis</i>) whereas in plantations it was estimated in block plantations of Shisham (<i>Dalbergia sissoo</i>) and Teak (<i>Tectona grandis</i>). Maximum SOC pool was in <i>C. deodara</i> (106.19 t ha-1) forest followed by Miscellaneous (93.87 t ha-1), <i>Q. leucotrichophora</i> (86.38 t ha-1), <i>P. roxburghii</i> (66.42 t ha-1), <i>S. robusta</i> (44.00 t ha-1) and the minimum was under <i>P. wallichiana</i> (30.52 t ha-1). Overall, on an average Champawat forests had 85.76 t ha-1 soil organic pool. Total SOC pool contained in forest area was 11.31 million tonnes. Soils under <i>T. grandis</i> plantations had 39.04 t ha-1 SOC pool while under <i>D. sissoo</i> it was 25.08 t ha-1. SOC pool in <i>M. indica</i> and <i>L. chinensis</i> orchards was 83.67 t ha-1 and 35.89 t ha-1 respectively. SOC pool between different land uses <i>i.e.</i> forests, plantations and horticulture were significantly different at 0.05 level.
