A study was conducted during June to September 2008 in the Second Section of Izapa community, Tuxtla Chico, Chiapas to identify the pest and parasitoid species of rambutan crops. The rambutan orchards were visited 4 times. At each visit, insect were collected from 200 fruits. Three branches of 8 trees were sampled for ants. Rambutan fruits showing evidence of damage from pests were collected, the most evident damage being a whitish powder on fruits and leaves. The species collected were Ferrisia virgata, and 5 ants. This is thought to be the first report on species of mealybug in rambutan crops in Mexico. Several other ants were identifed (Camponotus, Atta mexicana, Brachymyrmex obscurior, Solenopsis germinata, Azteca velox).
