Following PRA techniques a list of 10 most important problems were listed out fo... 展开 The field trials were conducted in Lachaputtraghati watershed during 2010-2013 following participatory approach for off-season vegetable cultivation. Following PRA techniques a list of 10 most important problems were listed out for ranking and farmers (n=85) were asked to rank the constraints they perceive as limitations in vegetable production. The highest value of RBQ (80.12) was worked out for water scarcity during off-season. On the basis of study as well demand from the farmers, a perennial streamwas diverted to idle patches for off-season vegetable cultivation in different villages of the watershed. Among different vegetables, carrot (Dacus carrota) showed yield in range between 163 to 166.2 q ha~(-1) in different villages for Radish (Raphanus staivus) mean maximum yield of 170.1 qha 1 was obtained in Kandhaputtraghati village followed by Ariputtraghati (168.9 qha~(-1)). Maximum average net returns to the tune of Rs. 2,08,274 ha~(-1) were observed in carrot followed by radish (Rs. 1,52,233). Returns per rupee invested was maximum for radish (2.72) followed by carrot (2.41). From the 3-year field trials, it be concluded that by diverting a part of perrinial stream the off-season vegtable cultivation was sucessfully done in a tribal catchment. Radish, tomato carrot could be recommended for off-season cultivation in southern Odihsa districts. 收起
