摘要 : This study was undertaken to assess the effect of both pre- and post-milking teat dipping with a disinfectant on the udder health and milk quality in Murrah buffaloes. 24 freshly calved Murrah buffaloes in their 1st to 3rd parity ... 展开 This study was undertaken to assess the effect of both pre- and post-milking teat dipping with a disinfectant on the udder health and milk quality in Murrah buffaloes. 24 freshly calved Murrah buffaloes in their 1st to 3rd parity were divided into 2 groups. One group was hand-milked, whereas the other group was milked using a milking machine. The 2 groups were further divided into 2 control and treatment subgroups. In the control groups, milking was carried out after washing and drying the udders and teats without giving any teat dip, whereas in the treatment groups, washing and drying of udders and teats was followed by dipping the teats in an antiseptic solution (Dipal in 1:8 dilution). After milking these buffaloes, their teats were again dipped in the same solution but at a higher concentration (1:4). The somatic cell count (SCC) of milk from machine-milked buffaloes was significantly higher (P<0.01) than that of hand-milked buffaloes. The mean SCC values were significantly lower (P<0.01) lower in the treatment groups compared to that in the control groups. The effect of interaction of treatment and day of recording was highly significant. Moreover, a consistent reduction in SCC from the start of the experiment until its completion was observed both under hand and machine milking. The lower levels of SCC in the treatment groups demonstrated that pre- and post-milking teat dipping was effective in preventing pathogenic microorganism invasion of the mammary glands. The least square means of standard plate counts (SPCs) of milk samples from hand-milked buffaloes were significantly lower (P<0.01) than that of machine-milked buffaloes. The mean SPCs of the treatment groups were significantly lower (P<0.01) than that of the control groups. The dipping of teats significantly improved (P<0.01) the mean methylene blue reduction time (MBRT) of milk samples from both hand- and machine-milked buffaloes. However, the MBRT was significantly higher (P<0.01) in milk from hand-milked buffaloes than in machine-milked buffaloes. The milk composition insignificantly differed between treatment and control groups. It was concluded that pre- and post-milking dipping of teats regularly improved the milk quality and improved the udder health of buffaloes. 收起
