Dry matter partitioning and nutrient uptake in 15-year-old grapevine (cv. Cabernet-Sauvignon) in San Michele allAdige, Italy, were studied during 2005. Biomass accumulation per plant (total dry matter per vine) increased during the vegetative period. During harvesting, the total biomass accumulated per vine was approximately 3000 g, and most of the dry matter was accumulated in the wood. The annual removal of N, P, K, Ca, Mg and S reached 42, 5, 54, 60, 10, 3, 124 kg/ha, whereas the annual uptake of Fe, Mn, B, Cu and Zn was 124, 308, 86, 476 and 124 g/ha, respectively. During harvesting, the following nutrient contents per vine were recorded: 58% for K; 50% for N, Mn, B and S; 40% for P, Ca, Mg and Cu; 10% for Fe; and 20% for Zn.
