Preventing cardiomyocyte necrosis is an important challenge towards the development of effective strategies, aiming to battle cardiovascular disorders. While, necrotic cell death was traditionally considered a passive and chaotic process, emerging evidence indicates that specific molecular mechanisms underlie cellular destruction during necrosis.
