This report attempts to provide a persp... 展开 It can be argued that there are benefits associated with genetically modified (GM) crops and foods, but their development and commercial exploitation has met with resistance among consumers. This report attempts to provide a perspective on consumers' views about the scientific, environmental, and risk issues associated with GM foods. A conceptual model attempts to identify some of the problems and barriers related with the marketing of GM foods. Consumer perceptions; problems in marketing GM foods; external influences and commitment of GM foods; customer value expectations from GM foods; and customer attitudes and intentions to purchase GM foods are discussed. The report emphasises that the success of GM foods depends on customers purchasing them, and suggests that manufacturers and marketers of GM food need to address consumer perceptions of risk, and develop a communication and education strategy to highlight the benefits of GM crops and foods. Labelling to distinguish GM from non-GM foods is also needed, to allow consumer choice. 收起
