(Capparaceae), that contains a number of glucosylated and rhamnosylated flavonols, possess an anti-inflammatory activity and used as medicine for treatment of abdominal and rheumatic pains. In this study, we examine the effects of <i>Cleome arabica</i> leaf extracts (CALE) treated by naringinase on selected propertie of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs). Release of elastase from these cells was measured in the presence of CALE or CALE treated with naringinase. Results showed that CALE reduced the release of elastase from PMNs stimulated by fMet-Leu-Phe/cytochalasin B. A previous treatment of CALE by naringinase enhanced this effect. We conclude that deglycosylation of flavonoids in CALE by naringinase improves the beneficial effects of this plant extract on PMNs. This can be an important therapeutic factor in the treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases. 收起
