In this paper the requirements, hardware and software architecture development and the implementation of an aquaponics embedded device (laboratory model SmartVegeTech) are presented. This system has the possibilities of remote control, rich user interface and other features. The SmartVegeTech system could be used in education in different engineering fields such as control engineering, process engineering, software engineering, as well as agricultural engineering. The educational tasks in control engineering as well as initial feed back from students will be presented. 收起
