The suspension was initially composed of single cells, was well dispersed and doubled in packed cell volume in 2 weeks, Plants could be easily regenerated from cell derived callus plated on solid medium, During the regeneration process, two different pathways of embryogenesis were observed: primary and secondary. Primary embryo development was observed on media with zeatin or with 0.25 mu M 6-benzylaminopurine (BA). Other tested combinations of zeatin and BA or higher BA concentrations in the regeneration media induced secondary embryos on previously formed immature primary embryos. Histological studies showed that secondary embryos had a well defined suspensor and a small coleoptile. Among the regenerated plantlets some albino shoots were recovered, indicating that the in vitro culture may induce a certain degree of somaclonal variation. [References: 35] 收起
