The construction industry and housing subsector is fraught with risks that have the potential of negatively impacting on the achievement of project objectives. The success or otherwise of most construction and housing projects depends to large extent on how well these risks have been managed. The aim of the study is to identify the risk associated with housing development projects with a view to prioritizing the identified risk factors to provide stakeholders with basis for sound decision.
The study used a three-step identification framework;a literature review of documented past experience, experts'consultation andquestionnaire based survey to identify the potential key risk factors with focus on the risks associated with housing development projects carried out by Pison Construction Company.
A focus group was employed to carry out relative prioritization assessment of the risk factors. The results show that 50 risk factors have relevant impact on housing development project and 19 of these risk factors are of significant level.Similarly,at macro level,Economic risk and Land acquisition risk are found to have the highest level of impact while changes in demand for houses and interest rate fluctuation sub-factors have the highest ranking at micro level. The study concluded that a suitable identification framework and an efficient and flexible risk assessment methodology are keys to the identification and assessment of risks, and achievement of robust risk management system in housing development project. In addition, the study drew attention to the need for focus on highly prioritized risk factors to reduce their chances of occurrence and impact on the achievement of project objectives.

Effective management of the health and safety of workers in construction sites to reduce work accidents is one of the main interests of the construction industry by increasing its performance. The construction industry is widely regarded as one of the most significant in terms of its impact on health and safety.
In Guinea(Conakry),the construction sector has played a significant role not only in the economic development of the country through its contribution to the gross domestic product(GDP)but also to the gross formation of the capital inside(GDCF)and especially to the creation of jobs.In many countries, the construction sector is an essential element of the economy and is also perceived as a driving force for economic growth, particularly in developing countries.Construction work provides employment opportunities because of its relatively intensive labor force to a large number of people who are qualified,semi-qualified and even non-qualified.Despite the importance of this sector, construction sites are considered as risks with relatively frequent and high accident rates and also health problems for workers. However, knowledge on the management of health and safety in construction and related factors on construction sites in the Republic of Guinea is not well documented. So,this study aims to discover the current practices of health and safety management when the project is set up.In pursuit of this objective and by random sampling,a descriptive case-finding study was used where30railway construction sites in the prefecture of Boke were selected. From the supervisors and workers of the construction sites registered with the NOC,questionnaires were used to collect qualitative and quantitative data, and descriptive statistics were used for the analysis of these data. The main causes of accidents, injuries and also of ill health in construction sites mostly fall in height, landslides, the object falls and likewise handling. The different types of injuries are composed of wounds and contusions fractures and broken bones.According to the workers on these sites, accidents and occupational injuries have had a very high impact on the progress of construction, while construction site managers have pointed to the lack of confidence in the public and, above all,the lack of confidence in the public. The disruption of works as having a negative impact on the progress of the works.Despite a sufficient presence of personal protective equipment on most construction sites, their use remains minimal:wearing gloves;wearing a safety belt;wearing face masks;wearing safety shoes.Lack of training of workers;lack of employee involvement the low presence of health and safety committees at work sites;the low commitment of management and the lack of health and safety management policy in most sites are factors that influence the implementation of health and safety measures on the sites. In order to prevent accidents, occupational injuries and ill health on construction sites, the study suggests the use of a much more proactive and integrated management mechanism to enforce existing health regulations and safety in construction sites.
This research aims to conduct a survey on the implementation of health and safety management in the various railway construction sites approved by the National Office of Construction in the prefecture of Boke. The objective of this study is to establish a basis for developing a health and safety framework for railway construction projects and also other types of construction projects in the Republic of Guinea.

Construction projects inherently involve multiple risks due to the involvement of various stakeholders with unique objectives and interests. Construction projects becomes more complex by nature due to this intricative dynamic behaviour, managing amp; allocation of risks effectively becomes a crucial component of a project’s success. This study delved into the realm of risks identification and allocation within the construction industry of United Arab Emirates (UAE), placing special emphasis on a side by side analysis of the FIDIC Red Book and UAE construction standard form contracts. Earlier research studies on construction risk allocation indicated that an objective, reliable, and practical risk assessment for construction projects and an equitable risk allocation mechanism among different parties. However, actual empirical research works in this research area are limited. This study, which aims to identify and assess the principal risks for the delivery of construction projects in UAE and to address their proper risk allocation between the official contracts. An empirical questionnaire survey was designed to examine the relative importance of different risk of 75 valid responses were obtained for data analysis. The main objective was to identify and assess the significant risks in the UAE construction industry based on their risk rating (impact and probability). The Spearman Rank Correlation was employed to investigate whether significant differences in perception existed between local and international companies in UAE. The study reveals that economic risks include inflation, sudden price changes, and shortages in material and labor supply. Additionally, owner risks such as unrealistic construction schedules, improper intercention, and design changes also hold considerable importance. However, political social, and cultural risks appear to be less significant. Local and international experts concur on the ranking of construction risks in the UAE. The findings show that mostly the risks are allocated to contractors or shared between the owners and only two risks allocated directly to the owners. . This research sheds light on the risks in a booming UAE construction industry. Risk allocation is an important step in project risk management and shows the significance of several risks that are present in the industry. This study lays the foundation for comparisons with other countries, helps UAE Goverment interested in decision making regarding risk response planning and control.
