4D CAD model topic is poorly analyzed in Lithuanian construction's sector and 4D CAD in practice is hardly used. Number of projects designed by using the 4D CAD model in Lithuania is minimal, only applied to complex multi-story buildings. Efficiency evaluation of 4D CAD model is practically unstudied in Lithuanian construction industry. Purpose of this article - to assess the efficiency of 4D CAD model. For the evaluation of efficiency there was made experiment simulating the construction process. The experiment showed that the use of 4D CAD model, with limited time resources, provide to access almost twice bigger efficiency. 4D information model consists of assumptions speed up to construction process. Also 4D CAD model averagely twice reduces the likelihood of mistakes and helps to detect and remove them quickly.

This paper presents a development and experiment of a CAD education support framework providing enhanced design assistance for students undertaking ship design coursework using a document management system called ShareFast. The software offers the following features: 1. CAD education framework for self instruction based on workflow of CAD operation; 2. Network based system for sharing educational materials, and support communication between instructors and students; 3. Sophisticated and flexible contents management feature based on metadata in RDF(Resource Description Framwork) format; and 4. Operations monitoring function to keep track of students' behavior in finding problems for materials. This educational framework was used for empirical studies with university students and the results show that the framework can hasten students' learning by means of learning materials improvement, and it also helps the instructor to understand the students' problems in real time.

In order to facilitate the users choice and the designers continuous improvements for clothing CAD softwares, the characteristics drafting with ET and Richforever were compared and analyzed through the female top basic block drafting in the paper. The results of the study show either ET or Richforever can satisfy the need drafting, give designers greater freedom to draft and is easy and simple to handle. The function of their intelligent pens is very comprehensive. The characteristics mean that the efficiency will increase and the production cycle will shorten.

Computer Aided reconstruction of mechanical parts nowadays heavily relies on dedicated RE software systems and highly skilled users to be carried out effectively. This paper investigates this scenario in order to identify most limiting factors in the current framework. With this respect, several considerations of general validity are drawn while presenting the problem from a theoretical perspective. A significant test case reconstruction, discussed in depth in the manuscript, is used to provide a practical point of view on real applications and help the reader acquire a hands-on comprehension of the current situation.

We present a database architecture for exploring, classifying, and visualizing feature-based parametric CAD models based on quantitative complexity metrics. The system consists of (1) an external relational database structure where models are stored along with their graph representation and the numerical values of each complexity metric, (2) a client module that is integrated in the user's CAD system and facilitates navigation within the repository, and (3) a report generation module that allows exporting CAD complexity data from the external repository to other applications for validation and analysis. In this paper, we justify the need for our system in the context of data analytics and discuss the rationale of its design as well as its architecture and implementations details. Finally, we describe a use case that illustrates the application of our framework in the characterization and evaluation of CAD models.

Starting in 1970, CAD tools migrated from research laboratories to the industrial world. From mere computerized drafting systems used for designing PC Boards, the CAD tools changed over the years to become ever more complex, first by addition of interfaces to other scientific computational tools, then to production and machining systems, then to "intelligent" systems (ICAD). Today, they can be found in the context of concurrent engineering with the idea that they have to include relevant knowledge massively (Knowledge Intensive CAD). The paper reviews the evolution of the technology and offers some tentative perspectives for future systems.
