Aim/Purpose The study aimed to investigate the influence of technology support, social support, academic support, and service support on student satisfaction and their relationships in private and state universities. BackgroundCoherent support between students, teachers, and management is usually extended beyond classroom scheduling and space. This support has a positive significant influence on student satisfaction, which may influence students’ academic, behavioral, emotional and social development. This support is assisted via technology, social, academic, and instant service support, which may have an impact on its nature. MethodologyIn the current study, a cross-sectional survey was used to collect the research data. Convenience sampling was used to select the participants for the study. It targeted a population sampled from engineering students from both private and state universities of central India (n=240). In quantitative data analysis, descriptive and inferential statistics were used. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS. ContributionThe present study expands the growing body of knowledge about student satisfaction via technology, social, academic, and service support. We identify the unique aspects of factors that are positively related to student satisfaction, which shed light on student satisfaction. Findings from this study may assist educators (while in training and/or professional development programs) to reflect upon their educational strategies to enhance the level of satisfaction among the students and to check how their students can benefit from the support system in the institution. FindingsThe results indicated that the institutional support dimensions –technology support, academic support, social support, and service support –are positively significantly related to student satisfaction in both state and private universities. Recommendations for PractitionersAs a result of the study, it is recommended to university policymakers and administrations to provide and emphasize the importance of institutional support. In addition, it is recommended to provide students with knowledge that focuses on technology, academic, social, and other related service support. Doing so can provide valuable insight into students’ level of satisfaction enhancement with institutional support. Recommendation for ResearchersAs a result of the study, it is recommended to university policymakers and administrations to provide and emphasize the importance of institutional support. In addition, it is recommended to provide students with knowledge that focuses on technology, academic, social, and other related service support. Impact on SocietyThis paper is a broad overview using a survey, so future research should focus on a more detailed analysis of the consequence of student satisfaction, possibly using controlled experiments. A breastfeeding father is a father who takes part in supporting his wife to breastfeed the baby. The success of exclusive breastfeeding can be achieved if there is husband involvement in it. Breastfeeding really requires a stable emotional condition. The husband’s role in the breastfeeding process in Indonesia is still lacking so that the husband has to understand the importance of support for a mother. This study aims to analyze the factors of father support related to exclusive breastfeeding behavior in Semarang City. This study was an analytical study with a Cross-Sectional design using a Simple Random Sampling technique. The data were collected using a questionnaire. The Chi-Square Test was used for bivariate analysis and the logistic regression test for multivariate analysis. The study results showed that variables of knowledge, attitude, emotional support, and instrumental support were related to exclusive breastfeeding in Semarang City. The most dominant factor influencing breastfeeding behavior was instrumental support with an OR value = 52.044. Father awareness regarding the important role of the breastfeeding father in supporting exclusive breastfeeding is expected to be improved. Family and health workers must collaborate to encourage the important role of the breastfeeding father.

Background Adjuvant endocrine therapy (AET) significantly reduces recurrence and mortality in women with estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer. Adherence to AET is about 50-60% for 5 years, and while numerous studies have identified barriers to AET adherence, few have identified the role of social support as a facilitator. Therefore, the objective of this study is to explore the role of social support during the ongoing management of AET. Methods We conducted semi-structured in-depth interviews with breast cancer survivors (n = 22) who filled a prescription for AET in the previous 12 months. Women were recruited from Los Angeles, California, and Houston, Texas, between 2014 and 2015. Interview questions prompted discussion about AET and how social support affects AET adherence. We analyzed interview transcripts with a grounded theory approach and grouped social support into four categories (emotional, informational, instrumental, and appraisal), then used a thematic content analysis to identify the sources and delivery of support. Results Women described that informational support was provided by medical providers who explained the purpose, benefits, and management of AET. Emotional support in the form of reassurance, communication, and empathy was provided by family, survivorship groups, medical providers, and spirituality/religiosity. Women identified several organizations and exercises that provided them with instrumental and appraisal support in the form of physical and emotional benefits, which was also provided by family, friends, and medical providers. Conclusion We identified that social support delivered to breast cancer survivors provided women with educational, physical, and emotional benefits that may play an important role in their continuation of AET.

Information on the experiences surrounding online breastfeeding peer support among breastfeeding mothers and its effects on breastfeeding outcomes is growing yet to be synthesized. The aim of this review was to synthesize the evidence of mothers' experiences of online breastfeeding peer support. An integrative review was conducted. Five electronic databases were searched. Two reviewers independently screened the articles for inclusion. The inclusion criteria were (1) involved original data focusing on mothers' experiences of online breastfeeding peer support, (2) participants who were mothers who were breastfeeding or had experiences of breastfeeding and (3) studies focusing on interaction and communication among mothers through online communities. In total, 14 publications met the inclusion criteria. Breastfeeding mothers turned to online groups when they felt isolated, lacked professional support or preferred online support over face-to-face support. Online breastfeeding peer support was characterized as a virtual community, with easy access, availability and a wealth of resources from actual experiences of mothers. It empowered breastfeeding mothers and resulted in changes in breastfeeding outcomes and perceptions. The positive aspects of online breastfeeding peer support have recently garnered more attention. This review provided baseline data and evidence to supplement and improve the current breastfeeding support system for breastfeeding mothers. The evidence on the effectiveness of online breastfeeding peer support for influencing breastfeeding outcomes remains inconclusive. Further empirical studies with rigorous study designs are warranted.

Cayrol and Lagasquie-Schiex introduce bipolar argumentation frameworks by introducing a second relation on the arguments for representing the support among them. The main drawback of their approach is that they cannot encode defeasible support, for instance they cannot model an attack towards a support relation. In this paper, we introduce a way to model defeasible support in bipolar argumentation frameworks. We use the methodology of meta-argumentation in which Dung's theory is used to reason about itself. Dung's well-known admissibility semantics can be used on this meta-argumentation framework to compute the acceptable arguments, and all properties of Dung's classical theory are preserved. Moreover, we show how different contexts can lead to the alternative strengthening of the support relation over the attack relation, and converse. Finally, we present two applications of our methodology for modeling support, the case of arguments provided with an internal structure and the case of abstract dialectical frameworks.

Social support has been reliably related to physical health outcomes. However, the conceptual basis of such links needs greater development. In this article, I argue for a life-span perspective on social support and health that takes into account distinct antecedent processes and mechanisms that are related to measures of support over time. Such a view highlights the need to distinguish measures of perceived and received support and its links to more specific diseases (e.g., chronic, acute) and stages of disease development (e.g., incidence). I discuss both the novel implications of these theoretical arguments for research on social support and physical health, as well as the potential intervention approaches that are apparent from this perspective.

The aim of this study was to examine the role of social support from parents, teachers, and peers in students’ engagement and achievement. Filipino secondary school students (N =1,694) participated in this study and answered questionnaires assessing their levels of perceived social support and academic engagement. A standardized science achievement test was also given. Results showed that students who perceived higher levels of social support from parents, teachers, and peers were more engaged and had higher achievement scores. More interestingly, peer support seemed to be more salient compared to parental and teacher support. Implications are discussed.

When older adults reduce their driving, there can be subsequent decreases in life satisfaction. In this cross-sectional study, we used baseline data from the multi-site Longitudinal Research on Aging Drivers (LongROAD) study to examine whether social support moderates the negative association between reduced driving and life satisfaction. The outcome variable was life satisfaction, and the main predictor variable was past-year reduced driving (yes/no). Emotional, instrumental, and informational social support were measured using PROMIS v2.0 (Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System) items. We used generalized linear regression models to examine how social support moderated the association between reduced driving and life satisfaction. Statistical adjustment for social support attenuated the negative effect of reduced driving on life satisfaction by similar to 10% for all three types of social support.
