The standardized party and academic affairs management is an integral part of office work within private universities and it is my firm belief that its status quo will undoubtedly be affected during the "Internet Plus" era. It is found that there are problems in party and academic affairs management in schools of private universities: outdated party and academic affairs management mode, unclear division of labor of party and academic affairs management personnel and a lack of professional informationization ability, lack of standardization in the process of management, lack of guidance and systematic training for the personnel, insufficient innovation of the performance appraisal system, complicated operation process of the management, huge impact of Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools in the "Internet Plus" era, and big challenges from diversified Chinese-foreign cooperation school running modes in private universities. In this paper, we will put forth how to best improve the efficiency of party and academic affairs management during the "Internet Plus" era and the concept of "informationization management"; in order to effectively enhance its development within private universities. It is suggested that a hierarchical management mode should be adopted, party affairs office should strengthen the awareness of services, focus on the work assigned by the school and timely provide information about it, management personnel should strengthen theoretical knowledge, enhance competitiveness, improve work quality and efficiency, academic affairs management personnel should build WeChat public platforms for academic affairs management, and academic affairs office should effectively develop and apply the "smart campus" mobile app and constantly improve the performance appraisal and incentive system in order to ensure that the academic affairs management of schools of private universities is implemented in a timely manner under the background of the "Internet plus".

Research at veterinary schools is usually driven by post-graduate students, yet there has been little or no study of how these students are selected. We undertook a review of the challenges faced in enlisting research higher degree (RHD) students at along-established veterinary school, the School of Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland. Our aim was to identify the best methods of developing a strategic recruitment program that would enhance veterinary research in the school. A total of21 academic research supervisors completed a quantitative survey assessing the associated importance placed on a variety of selection criteria and the level of potential challenges presented in recruiting suitable RHD students. Thirteen of these respondents completed a semi-structured qualitative interview to obtain further information. Respondents rated the motivation levels of potential students as the most important area of concern with regard to the assessment of student suitability, followed by their academic strength and English competency levels. The biggest challenge reported was that of obtaining sufficient funding for research projects and matching that funding to suitable students, followed by the geographical and student culture challengesof a rural campus. During the interviews, interviewees drew attention to the importance of developing a strong research culture in veterinary schools, and there was some concern centered on taking students with diverse cultural backgrounds. These constraints are discussed in light of the development of a broad-ranging strategy for developing an active and effective RHD program within veterinary schools.

Studies on the history of management education have gained preeminence in the field of organizational studies recently in Brazil. In this article we discuss how U.S. institutions exported and expanded management education in Brazil during the 1950s and 1960s. We argue that the U.S. diplomatic representation, Michigan State University and Ford Foundation have formed a network that enabled the exportation and expansion of management education in Brazil. This article contributes to deepen discussions on the issue of exports and expansion of management education in Brazil and to offer a context of this issue within Brazil-US relations. In addition, the study shows details on the role of North American institutions in this process and the expansion of management education in the South and the Northeast of Brazil as the result of support and pressures from the USA.

????Within universities and colleges in North America so-called campus recreation departments, under the student affairs division, exist on campuses. in addition to the athletic departments, in order to provide general students, faculty, and staff members with recreational sports activities. Seventy-five (75%) of U.S. students are participating in campus recreation programs. The purpose of this paper is to understand recent trends regarding campus recreation programs in the U.S. The following are the main findings: ????Campus recreational programs consist of fitness, open recreation, intramural leagues, sports clubs, aqua programs, outdoor programs, and others. Sports activities with higher participation rates among female students were fitness programs, including cardio-training and weight training followed by group exercise. Those among male students were fitness programs including weight training and cardio-training, followed by open recreation and intramural leagues. In intramural leagues, male leagues had the highest numbers of participating teams. Co-ed leagues had more teams than female leagues. ????Sports clubs exist for each kind of sport. Although those clubs are managed by students voluntarily, there is a great deal of involvement of the campus recreation department. In terms of usage time slots, early evening was the most frequently used slot, followed by afternoon (2 pm to 5 pm) . Revenue structures for campus recreation consist of student usage fees, subsidiaries from general students activity fees, non-student membership fees, etc. Campus recreation program has been implemented as one of the student affairs functions.

This scientific paper provides a systematic analysis of sociological relationships in the area of seafaring as well as management styles in maritime shipping industry, with particular emphasis on the specific features involved in the vocation of a seafarer. The research was carried out on a sample of seafarers attending training courses at Faculty of Maritime Studies in Split. Separation from family, friends and familiar environment represents one of the essential features of the seafarers’ life that are discussed in the paper. Another important sociological factor of the seafarers’ specific profession is their workplace, i.e. the ship.

Changes in diplomacy are especially visible by the involvement of many new actors in the area of international cooperation. A fast developing international system opened doors to many new actors, including international organizations, transnational corporations, and important interest groups.Diplomacy that, from the middle of the 15th century, was known as an important tool of foreign policy became wider in the post-Cold War era. In fact, the transformation of diplomacy has not been completed yet. Nowadays, for instance, governmental diplomacy must deal with various nonstate actors that shape its agenda.

What a delight! This is an enthralling account of the personal lives of the scientists
who first demonstrated the Sun’s dominant influence over Earthly affairs and laid the
foundation for modern astronomy and astrophysics. What timing! Just when the
attention of the world is focused on global climate changes, Stuart Clark’s book
reminds us that the Sun is King of the solar system, controlling events on planet Earth
in ways that extend far beyond the daily benefits of visible sunlight and its reflection
at night from the Moon and other objects in the solar system.

Background: Laboratory tests are among the most ordered tests and account for a large portion of wasted health-care spending. Meta-analyses suggest that the most promising interventions at improving health-care value and reducing cost are low investment strategies involving simple changes to ordering systems. The veterans affairs (VA) has a 2018–2024 strategic objective to reduce wasted spending through data- and performance-focused decision-making. Methods: VA Palo Alto Healthcare System laboratory utilization data were obtained from multiple sources, including the VA Corporate Data Warehouse and utilization reports from reference laboratory. Ordering volume, test results, and follow-up clinical impact data were collected and evaluated in partnership with the treating physicians and hospital informatics in order to optimize ordering sets. Results: Dextromethorphan (Dext) and synthetic cannabinoid testing were identified as the lowest value tests based on a three-tier score of negativity rate, volume, and cost. In partnership with the ordering physicians and hospital informatics, reflexive testing was eliminated, resulting in persistent decreases in the volume of Dext (162–10 tests/month) and synthetic cannabinoid tests (155–19 tests/month) ordered. The proportion of unnecessary repeat tests also dropped from 71.5% to 5.5%, the test positivity rate increased from 0.87% to 3.49%, and the approximate monthly cost of both tests decreased ten-fold from $21,250 to $2087 for a yearly savings of $229,000 at a single VA. Conclusions: Improved laboratory utilization is central to the VA' strategic objective to reduce waste. A relatively simple intervention involving partnership with the treating physicians and hospital informatics in combination with data- and performance-focused decision-making can yield substantial reductions in health-care waste.

Recently, researchers have claimed that food and beverage corporations should be excluded from the development of public health policy because their lobbying activities strategically undermine the promotion of public health. At the same time, recent political corporate social responsibility (CSR) theory holds that corporations have a responsibility to help solve global public issues. We address this described misalignment and show that corporations may fulfill this new political role if they turn to novel forms of corporate political activity (CPA) establishing a minimal standard for not contradicting their CSR. Therefore, we put forward a normative concept called deliberative lobbying based on discourse, transparency, and accountability, which aims to resolve public issues and advance CPA. In three lobbying cases, we show misalignments and contradictions that harm both society and the corporation. We position deliberative lobbing as an argument to maintain self-regulation against critics claiming that corporations should be excluded from all political processes.
