Infomiation and communication technology (ICT) and industrial sectors in Pakistan
have made significant progress in recent years; nevertheless, the economy of Pakistan
mainly depends on agriculture. Agricultural academic and research institutions in
Pakistan arc contributing their role for tlie development of agrieulliiriil fiekl. I libraries are
important part of these institutions for fulfilling the research and information needs of
agricultural scientists and researchers. This paper is based on the literature. It examines
the status of agricultural libraries in Pakistan. The paper also explores the problems
which agricultural libraries are facing in offering better services. Most common problems
include limited financial resources, lack of competent manpower, inadequate and
outdated collection, absence of agricultural library edueation in library schools, and lack
of training facilities and continuing education programs for agricultural librarians. The
paper also investigates the growing trend of ICTs applications and use of CD-ROM
databases in agricultural libraries. There appeared gap in local literature regarding
contemporary state of agricultural libraries in Pakistan.

There is dearth of data regarding child abuse in Islamic Republic of Pakistan due to the strong taboo about discussing the child abuse. This is pioneering study aimed to providing the estimates on the prevalence of child abuse in Pakistan. This is a cross-sectional and retrospective study on the prevalence of child abuse using simple random sampling. The study was conducted using standardized International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect tool International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect Child Abuse Screening Tools Retrospective version. Data were collected from 274 students of 4-year BS program in the University of the Punjab, Lahore. According to the findings, physical abuse has the highest rate 57% (46% females and 68% males) of prevalence. Emotional abuse is the second highest form of abuse with 53% prevalence rate (54% females and 53% males). Among the other forms neglect is 40% (40% females and 40% males) and 41% respondents (39% females and 44% males) disclosed being sexually abused. Most frequently reported category of the perpetrator according to the findings of this study are the parents (20%) followed by friends (16%) and teachers (14%). Single year with highest report of all forms of abuse is 12th year, and the age span with maximum occurrence of abuse is from 10 to 15 years for all forms of abuse. In this article the significance and importance of information technology has been discussed. In the beginning, it is evaluated that when women entered in the field? When their choice of subject was changed and what were the factors behind this change? What were the obstacles and hindrance, which kept them away from the subject of science and technology? In this perspective some social elements were also discussed. Project and planning regarding National Policy for Information Technology is also evaluated, and obstacles are pointed out. If women are provided better opportunities and facilities their participation in using IT technology will increase significantly. Women are discriminated on gender basis. In this society they are kept away in so many ways from the passage of development. Conscious efforts are made in selecting the fields of education, health care, trainings and economic participation. In this connection, women are also discriminated in joining and participating modern information technology. In this paper, such issues have been discussed in the context of Pakistan. The Pakistan Army elicits many concerns about terrorism, nuclear and the coherence of the state. However, very little is actually known about this institution. This article mobilizes unique data to address one important facet: the Army's geographical recruitment base. We find that the Pakistan Army has been successful at expanding the geographical recruitment base while some groups (namely those who are native to Sindh) remain highly under-represented. We also find that the officer corps is increasingly coming from urban areas. We conclude with a discussion of the implications of these important shifts subject to the limitations of our data.

The philosophy of dermatology involves helping patients who present to dermatologists to realize their full potential by treating them holistically and educating them about the different aspects of their disease(s), while helping the doctors involved to grow professionally and as human beings. In the setting of a burdened health sector of a third-world country like Pakistan, the road to realizing this philosophy is rife with hurdles in the form of low resources, poor health infrastructure, lack of a research culture, a low literacy rate, and sociocultural taboos. The resolution of these issues needs concerted efforts by all the stakeholders, and it can be possible only through selfless leadership, dedicated teamwork, and incessant efforts by the doctors, health authorities, and national as well as international health institutions. My day-to-day work is in congenital heart surgery, particularly trans-plantation in children and adults. But I have been involved in trying to set up units and help surgeons in many countries across the world. I find that challenge of helping to get a unit up on the ground in various countries very satisfying. And I am happy that in quite a few institutions that has taken off. Although, I have also found success and failure. I would like to touch on some of the failures I have had, to try give some clues about how we can make successful programmes. I am here, in Windsor, on the 10th of December, (2019), and I wish you all a very wonderful meeting and I hope that you can come together and make provisions for trying to imp-rove the quality of healthcare in Pakistan.

On 18 January 2011, at 20:23 UTC, an earthquake of magnitude 7.2 occurred in southwestern Pakistan (latitude 28°440'N, longitude 63°560'E) at a depth of 68 km. We present the results of the analysis of very low frequency (VLF) radio signals, received at three stations located in India. We analyze the VLF signals around this earthquake day and look for possible precursory effects of this earthquake. For our analysis, we use four different VLF propagation paths. These propagation paths are DHO–IERC (Sitapur), VTX–Pune, VTX–ICSP (Indian Centre for Space Physics, Kolkata) and NWC–IERC. We observed significant shifts of the “sunrise terminator time” (SRT) for DHO–IERC and VTX–Pune paths. For DHO–IERC path, the SRT of the VLF signals shifted towards nighttime three days before the earthquake day, and in the case of VTX–Pune path it shifted towards nighttime just one day before the earthquake day. For VTX–Kolkata path, the shift of SRT is four days before the earthquake day, but here the shift is not so strong, somewhere between 2σ and 3σ lines. For the other two paths, namely, DHO–IERC and VTX–Pune, the terminator time shifts crossed the 3σ line. We found no significant shifts of SRT for NWC–IERC propagation path. Higher deviation in the VTX–Pune path as compared to VTX–ICSP path could be due to the proximity of the former to the epicenter. Similarly, DHO–IERC path is over the epicenter while NWC– IERC path is totally away from the epicenter. This could be the reason why the effect in DHO–IERC path is stronger than that in NWC–IERC path.
