In this article the author gives study results as for estimation of phase noise impact on performance analysis of digital terrestrial television broadcasting system in DVB-T and DVB-T2 standards. Main purpose of studies is the quantitative and qualitative estimation of technical operational quality degradation under typical receiving condition and additional impairment in quadrature modulator/ demodulator of digital broadcasting systems. For this purpose the simulation models of DVB-T and DVB-T2 system path corresponding to baseline system specifications are implemented in Matlab/ Simulink mathematical modelling environment. As a result estimation of combined phase noise and AWGN impact on DVB-T and DVB-T2 performance with in-depth analysis for different system configurations is provided for the first time. Additionally possible technical solutions for improving of technical operation quality of DVB-T and DVB-T2 systems are defined. Derived values can be used for such impairment level fixing and control during technical maintenance, certification tests and starting-up /adjustment work.

In this article author’s study results in direction of performance analysis of digital terrestrial television broadcasting system in DVB-T and DVB-T2 standards in combined influence of quadrature impairments and AWGN. Main purpose of studies is estimation of technical operational quality degradation in such systems in different conditions of performance non-ideality of quadrature modulator/ demodulator with different relationship between impairments for combined influence. For this the simulation model of DVB-T2 system path providing possibility of quantitative and qualitative estimation of technical operational quality in condition of quadrature impairments and AWGN is implemented in Matlab/ Simulink mathematical modelling environment. As a result quantitative and qualitative estimations of DVB-T rand DVB-T2 performance in condition of combined influence of quadrature impairments, i.e. I/Q amplitude and phase imbalance, and AWGN, with definition of threshold levels of impairments are provided for the first time. Moreover indepth analysis of influence of configuration choice of DVB-T/DVB-T2 systems on acceptable impairment level during appearing of I/Q amplitude and phase imbalance and AWGN are carried out. Derived values can be used for such impairment level fixing and control during technical maintenance, certification tests and starting-up/adjustment work.

DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcasting- Terresrial) merupakan sebuah standar terbuka dalam transmisi video digital yang telah diakui secara internasional dikeluarkan oleh ETSI. Pada penelitian ini akan menganalisis pengaruh pemilihan jenis modulasi yang digunakan terhadap performansi layanan DVB-T pada sistem High Altitude Platforms Station (HAPS). HAPS yang dikenal sebagai stratospheric broadband adalah sebuah standar infrastruktur telekomunikasi yang serupa dengan satellite, yang ditempatkan di lapisan stratosfer. HAPS dikembangkan untuk menjalankan layanan serupa satellite dengan biaya yang lebih hemat, waktu perealisasian yang jauh lebih pendek dan memiliki cakupan yang jauh lebih besar dibandingkan dengan infrastuktur terestial saat ini. Kanal HAPS dapat menyediakan hubungan LOS antara platform HAPS dengan user sehingga dapat disimulasikan dengan kanal rician. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, performansi layanan DVB-T pada sistem HAPS dipengaruhi oleh jenis modulasi dan mode kerja yang digunakan, penggunaan modulasi QPSK dengan mode kerja 8K memberikan performansi paling baik, dengan memenuhi nilai BER yang telah ditentukan yaitu lebih kecil dari 10-4.

Germany and Croatia are among first European countries that have adopted the strategy of switching from DVB-T h.264 system to DVB-T2 h.265 (HEVC) system of broadcasting for terrestrial television. The newer h.265 system has better performance compared to previously h.264 especially in terms of efficiency of transmitting. On a single frequency, h.265 enables much more data flow, which means more channels and/or better quality of transmitting. This paper investigates the efficiency and rentability of such transition and compares Germany as s big and Croatia as a small European country. The aim of the analysis is to show the background for such a technological change in these two countries and to compare it having in mind the difference of capacities necessary for terrestrial transmission. This switch to the DVB-T2 HEVC system represents the classical example of technological progress in practice, and is especially interesting in the period when other countries are setting up strategies for the future of terrestrial television transmission.

The digital terrestrial television (DTTV) transmission based on digital video broadcasting-terrestrial second generation (DVB-T2) for a single frequency network (SFN) shall be studied. The DTTV signal performance is very important. Therefore, the performance of DTTV should be studied. SFN is a key factor in DVB-T2 technology due to the benefits of SFN. In order to evaluate the DVB-T2 performance, this research had investigates broadcasting reception threshold of DVB-T2 signal. The experiment was done in a laboratory of Mass Communication Organization of Thailand company, Thailand, and field experiment was done in urban area of Sing Buri, Thailand. The measurement model was set up to measure the the DTTV performance parameter with respected to guard interval delay time of two SFN transmitters. The acceptable result of minimum power, received signal, CNR, MER, and transmission loss are presented. The reliability of the result was validated by using polynomial. The measurement results provided a useful information for optimization and modeling of DTTV broadcasting for SFN system with DVB-T2 in Thailand.

The development of modern, effective and intelligent wireless communication systems, which enable to provide multimedia services in high quality takes place more faster than in years before. The small frequency bandwidth gap of the 4G systems represented by Long Term Evolution (LTE) and digital broadcast system Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial and the second generation denoted as T2 (DVB-T/T2) is responsible for the presence of different interference scenarios. This paper highlights the analytical background of both systems and the issue of coexistence. Moreover, computer simulations are used to evaluate the deployment of filters on the digital television receiver side as well as spectral emission mask on LTE base station in order to mitigate interference.

Nur-DVB-T-fahige Fernseher und externe Receiver waren schlagartig Elektroschrott und mussten durch neue, T2-kompatible Modelle ersetzt werden. Des einen Leid - des anderen Freud: Dadurch wurden n?mlich massenhaft USB-Sticks obsolet und damit sehr preiswert, die nur DVB-T empfangen konnten. Mit einer speziellen Software namens Welle.io k?nnen aber etliche dieser Sticks in ein SDR (Software Defined Radio) verwandelt werden, das einen recht passablen DAB-Radio-Empfang erlaubt.
