At present, we have a very limited understanding of how the differences in partner absorptive capacity affect the distribution of innovative outcomes obtained in research-intensive collaborative projects. The current paper addresses this shortcoming by examining how firms and universities maintain the balance between the research output sharing and research output capture modes in their research partnerships. Through introducing a concept of the absorptive capacity gap, this study highlights the role of the relative/comparative dimensions of partner absorptive capacity in establishing the balance between relinquishing and taking control of the marketable innovative results achieved in university-industry collaborative projects. It offers a conceptual framework describing the joint impact of relative absorptive capacity and the absorptive capacity gap on the research output sharing/capture balance in university-industry collaboration. It also explores the potential shifts in this balance stemming from the influence of relationship-specific factors, such as mutual trust, positive prior ties, cognitive proximity, and cultural compatibility between the firms and universities. It concludes with theoretical and practical implications of the proposed framework for enhancing the knowledge-creating potential in university-industry collaboration.

Collaborative research has been increasingly celebrated by the science community, but the hypothesized positive relationship between research collaboration and research output is more assumed than rigorously tested. In this paper, we identify three methodological gaps in the literature: (a) hierarchical coding based on the ISI Web of Science database causes severe loss of information on local collaboration, (b) the relationship between research collaboration and research output is likely to be confounded by a common latent variable such as a scientist's ability, and (c) the lack of longitudinal analysis prevents causal inferences from being made. To address these methodological concerns, we constructed a longitudinal dataset of 65 biomedical scientists at a New Zealand university and coded collaboration variables by hand checking each of their publications in a period of 14 years. We found that at article level, both within-university collaboration and international collaboration are positively related to an article's quality and that, at scientist-year level, only international collaboration is positively related to a scientist's future research output.

Background The institutional affiliations and associated collaborative networks that scientists foster during their research careers are salient in the production of high-quality science. The phenomenon of multiple institutional affiliations and its relationship to research output remains relatively unexplored in the literature. Methods We examined 27,612 scientific articles, modelling the normalized citation counts received against the number of authors and affiliations held. Results In agreement with previous research, we found that teamwork is an important factor in high impact papers, with average citations received increasing concordant with the number of co-authors listed. For articles with more than five co-authors, we noted an increase in average citations received when authors with more than one institutional affiliation contributed to the research. Discussion Multiple author affiliations may play a positive role in the production of high-impact science. This increased researcher mobility should be viewed by institutional boards as meritorious in the pursuit of scientific discovery.

This paper attempts to compare the research output and priorities of 25 major cuntries in renewable energy research. The main objective is to assess the research priorities of the major countries in frontier areas/subjects of renewable energy using some bibliometric measures based on renewable energy literature. Subjects of high activity and subjects of low activity are identified for two time periods (1996-1997 and 1998-1999). Our findings show that the output of publications including articles, reviews, letters, notes, editorials, and book reviews of India, Greece, and Belgium declined between 1996-1997 and 1998-999.

To stay competitive in an ever-changing environment, companies have to continuously increase the productivity of their R&D resources. To make this increase in productivity possible, the productivity must be measured. Most research so far has focused on measuring R&D as a whole, but with relatively little success. The conclusions drawn from this paper are that previous research has failed due to two main problems. Firstly, esearch activities differ from development activities regarding a number of factors, factors that play important roles in measuring productivity. Thus, research activities must be measured separately, to ensure that the factors are correctly considered. The status of an actor in a social context is commonly defined in terms of two factors: the total number of endorsements the actor receives from other actors and the prestige of the endorsing actors. These two factors indicate the distinction between popularity and expert appreciation of the actor. respectively. We refer to the former as popularity and to the latter as prestige. These notions of popularity and prestige also apply to the domain of scholarly assessment. The ISI Impact Factor (ISI IF) is defined as the mean number of citations a journal receives over a 2 year period. By merely Counting the amount of citations and disregarding the prestige of the citing journals, the ISI IF is a metric of popularity, not of prestige. We demonstrate how a weighted version of the popular PageRank algorithm can be used to obtain a metric that reflects prestige. We contrast the rankings Of journals according to their ISI IF and their Weighted PageRank, and we provide an analysis that reveals both significant overlaps and differences. Furthermore, we introduce the Y-factor which is a simple combination of both the ISI IF and the weighted PageRank, and find that the resulting journal rankings correspond well to a general understanding of journal status.

The current research has been conducted to study the ethnopharmacology research output in the past 10 years (2011–2020) after using Web of Science (WoS) database. The present study has used WoS database to collect the ethnopharmacology research output for the specific period. The retrieved data were analyzed using specific parameters. This study investigates the impact of the most productive institutes, countries, authors, subjects, sources, and keywords. For visualizing purposes, VOSviewer has been used. We retrieved 7,159 papers from WoS, consisting of 84.24% journal articles and 14.23% review articles. The data analysis indicates that consistent growth with increasing multiauthorship is a general trend of research. The Council of Scientific Industrial Research (CSIR) India collaborates with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Central Institute of Medicinal Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) in terms of domestic collaboration.

Raiganj University is a State Government University located at Raiganj, West Bengal. It was established in the year 2015 as a unitary university. Initially the university started with Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate Program and then it has started its Research program leading to MPhil and PhD programs in different branches of Arts, Science, and Commerce. At present the University holds 22 PG Departments and out of which total 17 Departments have started MPhil & PhD programs. The university was initiated tagged as a college under the University of North Bengal, WB. The initial development of Raiganj University is noticeable; in the year of establishment itself i.e. 2015 the University started total 10 PhD programs. Then since 2016 the number of subject has been enhanced and thereafter MPhil program also been started. Apart from the research degrees i.e. MPhil and PhD, the university also started higher degrees leading to the D.Sc. and D.Litt. Moreover the university after its establishment within a specific timeframe have done good job in terms of productive research output leading to research papers, policy papers, review papers etc. Importantly the output of the degree within a specific time is noticeable and eye catching. Aim: To describe the efficacy of clinical research coordinators (CRCs) in terms of research output among faculty, residents and medical students. Materials & methods: We analyzed and reviewed departmental research output from the 3 years prior to the hire of 3 CRCs compared with the 3 years following. Results: From 2014 to 2016, the department output was a total of 27 peer-reviewed publications, 16 oral presentations and 33 poster presentations. From 2017-2019 there was a 52% increase in publications (n = 41), 131% increase in oral presentations (n = 37) and a 61% increase in poster presentations (n = 53). Conclusion: The implementation of CRCs has markedly increased tangible research output and trainee involvement. This role may serve as a valuable model for other academic departments....
