A recent study using hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, acetone and methanol extracts of leaves and fruits of the plant revealed antibacterial activity of the extracts against the 3 Gram-positive bacteria (<i>Staphylococcus aureus, S. epidermidis</i> and <i>Streptococcus mutans</i>) and none of them was active against the 4 Gram-negative bacteria (<i>Enterobacter aerogenes, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae</i> and <i>Pseudomonas aeruginosa</i>) tested. 收起
