For this purpose, a translog effort production function is applied to survey data collected in 1996. The empirical results indicate that ample substitution possibilities exist between labour and capital and labour and energy. In contrast, the substitution possibilities between capital and energy are limited. The compensated own-price demand elasticities are lower than one. To further access the internal structureof effort, the estimated model has been subject to a barrage of separability tests (global, linear and non-linear). In all cases, the assumption of input separability has been decisively rejected. 收起
