Out of 19 districts of the state four districts namely Sonipat, Faridabad, Jhjjar and Gourgaon were selected purpositively. The study was conducted in 16 villages. Farm each village 15 respondents were selected randomly and hence, a total numbers of 240 farmers were interviewed for the study. It was found that majority (82.08%) of the respondents had favorable attitude towards horticultural crops as a diversification in Haryana, 10% respondents was having negative attitude. The attitude statement analysis indicated that generally fruit and vegetable cultivation as a diversification is meant for the farmers who reside near the city and got first rank followed by fruit and vegetable cultivation as a diversification is the way to increase the income having second rank and the third rank was obtained by judicious mixing of enterprises brought stability in income. The overall status of the respondents had medium level (51.25%) of diversification towards horticultural crops farming. The constraints related to inputs were considered to be most serious followed by those related to marketing, technical guidance, production and psychological. Non-availability of quality seeds, high price of insecticide and fungicides, absence of agro-processing units, exploitation by middle man, fluctuation in price at the time of peak season, plant protection problem and lack of guidance of seeds treatment and post-harvest technology were the main constraints faced by the respondents to adopt the horticultural crops fanning as a diversification. 收起
