It was evident from the study that ill equ... 展开 The study was carried out in purposively selected Bettiah district of Bihar to identify various constraints perceived by dairy farmers in adopting Improved Dairy Farming Practices (IDFP). It was evident from the study that ill equipped AI centre (83.33 %), problems of repeat breeding (79.16 %), poor knowledge and appreciation for AI services (72.5 %), lack of availability of good breedable bull for natural services (69.16 %) under breeding were the main factors. The preferences to grow cash crops (sugarcane) instead of fodder crops (84.16 %), Poor knowledge about improved feeding of dairy animals (80.83 %), unavailability of feeds and fodder particularly in floods (78.33 %) under the feeding practices. In addition to this, lacking facility for treatment of diseases / vaccine / medicine etc. (83.33 %), distantly located veterinary hospital (81.66 %), poor awareness and knowledge about importance of vaccination (80.00 %) are main hurdle under the management and health care practices. However, lack ofdairy cooperative societies (88.33 %) and wastage of milk due to poor availability of cold chain (82.50 %) were perceived as other important constraints in adopting IDFP by majority of dairy farmers in the study area. Keeping in view of these constraints, it has been suggested that conducive strategy should be formulated by the different dairy development agencies of government as well as other agencies engaged in improving socio-economic status of farmer in the district. 收起
