First hand information on dairy management practices such as feeding, housing, milking and breeding of animals was collected. Study revealed that all animals were stall feed; group feeding was followed by 29% farmers where as 71% farmers followed individual feeding. Home prepared concentrate feed was used by 65% farmers, 20% purchase concentrates from market while 15% farmers useboth. Majority of farmers 84.5% were not feeding mineral mixture. It was noticed that 90% floor of animal shed was made of earthen; only 15% farmers had urine drainage in the shed. Majority of farmers provide sufficient ventilation in the shed. 80% farmers provided pucca manger for feeding of animals. The knuckling method of milking was common among farmers and milking at the same place was done by 68% of farmers whereas 32% farmers perform milking at dry and separate place. The farmers use open mouth bucket for milking and none of the farmers use scientific milking pail for milking. Artificial insemination in cross-bred cattle was followed by 96% farmers but in only 9% in case of buffaloes. Farmers were well aware about heat symptoms but pregnancy diagnosis was followed by only 5% of farmers. Overall study reveals that management practices followed by the farmers in the study area were satisfactory for feeding and housing, but needs technological improvement for better breeding and milking management. 收起
