The profiles of various attributes studied in 54 ejaculates from 6 bulls of Gir breed obtained at 10 days intervals revealed that the seminal TP, albumin, globulin and cholesterol had significant positive correlations (r=0.271 to 0.568) with ejaculate volume, density, motility, sperm count, crenellation score, cold shock resistance and freezability of semen and negative correlations with abnormal sperm. Initial fructose and A:G ratio did not reveal any correlation with these traits. The GOT-GPT activity had significant positive correlations only with volume (0.409, 0.306) and sperm count (0.331, 0.232), but AKP-ACP, calcium and phosphorus showed highly significant positive correlations with most of the seminal attributes and freezability (0.261 to0.549), while Ca:P ratio and Na:K ratio revealed significantly inverse correlations with them. Further, sodium and potassium had significant negative and positive correlations, respectively, with all above traits, but magnesium and chloride content didnot reveal any correlation. Amongst micro-minerals, viz Zn, Fe, Cu, Co and Mn, only copper had significant positive correlations with density, motility, sperm count, cold shock resistance and freezability (0.276 to 0.424). Further, TP, albumin, globulin, cholesterol, GOT-GPT and AKP-ACP had significant positive correlations with calcium, phosphorus, potassium and copper, and negative correlations with chloride, Thus, the estimates of proteins, cholesterol, calcium, phosphorus, sodium, potassium and copper as well as motility ratings, sperm concentration, vital count and cold shock resistance test were the good predictors of quality and freezability of semen in Gir bulls.
