Some plant species and antagonistic microorganisms were tested for effective management of wilt disease of pigeon pea, caused by Fusarium udum [Gibberella indica]. Fresh leaf extracts of Azadirachta indica, Datura fastousa [D. metel], Tagetes erecta, Eucalyptus citriodora, Aegle marmelos and Mimusops elengi, each at 5%, were used. The dominant rhizosphere fungi, i.e. Trichoderma viride, T. harzianum and Aspergillus niger, were used as the biological control agents. The extract of A. indica was the most effective in inhibiting the mycelial growth (67.8%) of F. udum, followed by D. fastousa (61.2%), Tagetes erecta (52.6%), E. citridora (52.2%), A. marmelos (47.9%) and M. elengi (45.9%). The maximum inhibition of radial growth of F. udum was observed with Trichoderma viride (83.48%), followed by Aspergillus niger (52.3%) and Trichoderma harzianum (35.8%).
