A field experiment was conducted at Gayeshpur, B.C.K.V., West Bengal to assess the effect of organic manures and inorganic fertilizers on yield and nutrient uptake by greengram in rice-rapeseed-greengram cropping sequence and the residual soil fertility after the harvest of greengram. Application of recommended dose of NPK to all the component crops in the rice-rapeseed-greengram cropping sequence produced maximum yield attributes, seed and stover yields, higher N, P and K content in seed and stover as well as greater total uptake of NPK by greengram, but it recorded significantly lower values of organic carbon, total nitrogen and available P2O5 content in soil after harvest of greengram. Application of integrated use of organic with 50% NPK to rice produced almost similar results. But integrated nutrient management improved the residual soil fertility after greengram to a grater extent and the gain in organic carbon, total nitrogen and available P2O5 over the initial soil nutrient content was 0.324%, 0.023% and 2.8 kg/ha, respectively.
