Trichoderma species are strong biocontrol agent against various plant diseases used popularly in the agriculture. An attempt was made to evaluate the effect of Trichoderma species on the seed germination of crop plants. Culture filtrate of Trichoderma species such as T. viride, T. harzianum, T. koningii, T. pseudokoningii and T. virens were treated with crop plant seeds and allowed to germinate under in vitro condition. Seeds of cereal crops viz., rice and maize germinated significantly under the treatment of all Trichoderma species. However, seedling length of rice was maximum due to T. virens (9.79 cm) while maize seedling performed best under T. pseudokoningii (25.45 cm). Germination of pigeon pea seeds was highest due to T. virens (100%) and seedling length was more (15.2 cm). In case of gram, T. harzianum and T. koningii caused highest germination (100%) while seedling length was more by T. viride (14.0 cm). Moth seeds germinated significantly due to T. harzianum (100%), T. pseudokoningii (100%) and T. virens (100%) whereas, seedling length was maximum by T. pseudokoningii (14.9 cm). Germination of mustard seeds were more due to the treatment of T. virens (100%) while seedling length was more by T. harzianum (6.8 cm). Groundnut seeds were germinated in significantly and maximum under the treatment of T. harzianum (80%) while seedling length was also enhanced (9.3 cm). In case of safflower, seed germination was high due to T. viride (100%), T. harzianum (100%), T. koningii (100%) and T. virens (100%) while T. harzianum was better with respect to seedling length (21.4 cm).
