Results showed that ... 展开 This paper analyses the inventory data and explains the major causes of reduction in both forest areas and allowable cut levels for eastern Black Sea forests in Turkey for two periods, 1971-1990 and 1983-2004. Results showed that stand types with canopy closure over 40% and subject to intermediate harvests were 10226 ha less than the the original level. The total amount of growing stock increased in the revised management plans in contrast to the apparent reduction in forest lands. Of the approximately 2 million m3 of total allowable cut, regeneration cuts accounted for 41%, thinning 44% and selection cut, cleaning and coppice cut levels 5% each. In the revised management plans, 1.16 million m3 of total allowable cut level consisted of regeneration cut (67%), thinning (27%), selection cut (6%), and coppice cut levels (0.01%). Some recommendations for future management are presented, as the wood supply shortage is expected to continue. 收起
