Nowadays, heterocyclic compounds have attained a prominent place among the numerous classes of aromatic organic compounds in medicinal chemistry due to their important pharmacological and biological activities. Benzodiazepines are nitrogen heterocycles having a six-membered benzene ring system fused to a seven-membered fused ring system with two nitrogen atoms. Because of their improved pharmacological, clinical, and biological features, chalcone-derived benzodiazepine scaffolds remain the main focus by the scientific community. The current study highlights the synthesis and biological properties of several chalcone-based benzodiazepines and their derivatives. (c) 2022 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
