Adults of Z. bicolorata were fed leaves and inflorescences of P. hysterophorus. Significance of paired t-test was found when food and oviposition were compared. Mann-Whitney test also gave a significant effect of leaf but a non-significant effect of inflorescence on overall survival rate. Chi-square showed a significance of leaf with a non-significant effect of inflorescence on the total number of emerged adults. Thus, the significant effect of food on oviposition rate and total number of eggs hatched was demonstrated. The mated females fed both leaves and inflorescences and preferred to lay eggs on both.
