Depending on intensity and type of nitrogen fertiliser application, nitrous dioxide or ammonia are emitted and methane decomposition is effected, too. For ascertaining trace gas fluxes, the flux chamber method in combination with gas chromatography (GC) or with Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) was applied. GC is more accurate with some selected trace gases. FT-IR measurements show that ammonia flow, when calcium ammonium-nitrate is applied, is below the detection level. The nitrous dioxide emission factor, ascertained for a sandy-loam location, is based on GC-data. The mean of all fertiliser induced N{sub}2O-N-emissions is only about 0.2% of N-fertiliser applied. Furthermore, GC-measurements indicate that soil born decomposition of methane closely follows soil temperature. The mean annual value is about 0,7 kg CH{sub}4 per ha and year. 收起
