Surgery causes catabolic response associated with muscle loss. Malnutrition should be screened early in the preopera-tive period in order to develop specific programs aimed at improving perioperative nutrition management. In malnourished patients, preoperative nutritional support should be considered, including artificial nutrition in case of high risk surgery procedure. In the postoperative period, early enteral nutrition is associated with lower complications. Enteral and parenteral nutrition managements are detailed in the present review. 收起
