Salinity stress can endanger the survival of plants. To investigate the response of canola to NaCl salinity, 12 canola cultivars treated with 0, 150 and 300 mM NaCl were monitored in hydroponic culture system. Salinity stress reduced osmotic potential and increased osmotic adjustment by an enhanced Na+ of leaves. Data analysis could identify tolerant cultivars with low Na+ content and high K+/Na+ ratio under salinity stress. The increment of Na+ content was 6 fold in 300 mM NaCl than of control. Intensity of Na+ accumulation in Heros, Comet and Sw hot shot were greater than other cultivars. The leaf sap K+ concentration remaining in a range of 0-50 mg/g dry weight. For under stress plants, K+ is transferred to leaves.
