Some generic knowledgeof English legal documents is urgent and helpful when they handle their routinebusiness. Recent years have seen the development of a number of approaches togenre analysis on the legal texts, which is still insufficient both in quantity andquahty This thesis aims to describe the discourse elements the move structures ininternational treaties after examining the existing descriptions of law genre.Afler analyzing thirty international treaty texts in authentic English, the writerfinds there exists a typical six-move-structure in each international agreement. Somecomplementary linguistic features in the legal texts have also been discovered.All these findings in the thesis are open to suggestions and even critics for thecoming insightful and deepening studies by scholars and experts. 收起
