Consequently, the management recommendations provided to the Fraser River Panel by PSC staff often reflected these high levels of uncertainty. This led to the Panel generally adopting conservative management actions that resulted in lower catches while escapements exceeded the goals for some stocks or stock groups. Escapements of several stocks were at record levels for the period of monitoring (1938-2000). The Upper Adams sockeye spawning population had an exceptional escapement in 2000. Unexpectedly large numbers of Summer-run sockeye also arrived on their spawning grounds. 收起
