The report does not treat fabrics for use ... 展开 This report presents results achieved during the first year's effort to develop test methods and use criteria for fabrics in drainage, erosion control and soil reinforcement applications. The report does not treat fabrics for use in asphalt pavement reinforcement. An extensive literature search and field survey was conducted resulting in the development of interim criteria and fabric properties needed for a wide range of fabric applications. Test methods to evaluate these properties are identified and new test methods suggested where existing ones are considered inadequate. Specific results obtained include a discussion of important fabric properties and how they are affected by type of polymer and manufacture, an identification of fabric uses together with what fabric properties are important for each use, and an appraisal of the current knowledge regarding soil-fabric interaction, fabric performance and cost effectiveness. Recommendations are made for new test methods, or modifications of existing ones which need to be developed, to evaluate important fabric properties. A wealth of basic data has been accumulated for the development of improved tests and criteria to be used in the next phase of the project. 收起
