Existingmagnetic particles are almost prepared by coating polymers on magneticnanoparticles (NPs). However, this strategy usually encounters the problem ofpoor magnetic NPs loading capacity. Here, a series of nanofractal magneticparticles (nanoFMPs) synthesized by a strategy of mediator monomerregulated emulsion interfacial polymerization is presented, which allowseffective magnetic NPs loading and show efficient nucleic acid separationperformance. The mediator monomers facilitate the dispersion of magneticNPs in internal phase to achieve higher loading, and the hydrophilicmonomers use electrostatic interactions to form surface nanofractalstructures with functional groups. Compared with magnetic particles withoutnanofractal structure, nanoFMPs exhibit a higher nucleic acid extractioncapability. This strategy offers an effective and versatile way for the synthesisof nanoFMPs toward efficient separation in various fields from clinicaldiagnosis to food safety and environmental monitoring. 收起
