Preop-erative state was complicated by inadequate oxygen-ation due to total atelectasis of the unventilatedcollapsed left lower lobe with consequent significantshunting of the unoxygenated blood. The patient hadno massive pneumothorax because the intact peri-bronchial tissue and pleura covered the injuredplace, preventing important air leakage. The suspi-cion of possible concomitant tracheobronchial injuryand early diagnostic bronchoscopy are important inpatients with aortic rupture after blunt chest trauma. 收起
