Data collected through an online survey and through a number of detailed company assessments throw light on the relative strengths and weaknesses of different elements of Knowledge Management (KM) frameworks as applied globally. The online survey - a quick self-administered test, shows the strongest elements within the framework to be Technology and Behaviors and Culture. The weakest elements are KM Governance and KM Roles. The assessment - a detailed diagnostic process based on in-depth interviews, shows the strongest elements within the framework to be Technology and the Discussion of Knowledge. The weakest elements are KM Governance and KM Roles. a comparison of the results from the two sources is reassuringly close. More data may allow a more detailed analysis. Preliminary results suggest that national culture may influence the development of Knowledge Management Frameworks, with a correlation between strong Individuality and weak KM Governance and Roles.

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to examine the need for a statistical approach in the development of personnel aspiring for a technical manager/technical team leader position in order to increase corporate profitability. It outlines the details of management training for managerial positions by chronicling the research of thirty academic studies in management strategy as well as real world experiences, which provides a statistical viewpoint for the development of a technical manager/technical team leader as a significant contributor to profitability within the corporate landscape. Design/methodology/approach - This study begins by validating the strategic management model (Process 1), which states that managerial influences in the organization are important to consider and greatly affect the profitability of a corporation. Statistical methodologies are introduced as tools for the analysis in the development of the technical management/technical team leader position. Using interval-based analytical hierarchy process (i-AHP), the beginning of the process to develop a manager starts with Process 2 at their initial position, developing an employee using personnel management techniques and statistically measuring motivation and commitment. After the employee has demonstrated their abilities and gained knowledge of the people and processes, another assessment is conducted to enter the employee into a development position; Process 3. Process 3 considers the key metrics which will be necessary to allow the employee to develop corporate advantages. Process 4 shows the critical concepts (Process 1 and Process 2) that managers must consider when taking a technical manager/technical team leader role, including personnel development, knowledge management, and project management. Findings - Corporate profitability is profoundly dependent on the development of employees throughout their careers. The profitability achieved within a corporation landscape can be evaluated and improved through the proposed processes. These processes not only can improve the ability for a newly appointed technical manager/technical team leader to overcome obstacles and navigate difficult situations but also increase the chances for: developing employees to increase corporate profitability, increase corporate profitability themselves, and to develop as a future manager who will be significantly increasing corporate profitability. Originality/value - This study proposed the statistical processes to develop a technical manager/ technical team leader candidate by creating a link between the initiation of the employee's career, their future job positioning, team working skills, leadership attributes, development of technical management/ technical team leading skills, and later management skills to increase corporate profitability.

The work of construction project managers (CPMs) is often highly stressful, due to time pressures, and due to the uncertainties and the dynamic social structure involved in construction projects. This study aims to investigate the impact of stress on the performance of CPMs. Correlation analysis and structural equation modeling are employed to uncover the relationships between different types of stress (i.e., objective stress, burnout, and physiological stress) and the work performances (i.e., task performance, interpersonal performance, and organizational performance) of CPMs. Data were collected from 108 CPMs who work in a variety of construction sectors, including prime contractors, subcontractors, developers, consultant firms, and the public sector. Results showed that (1) objective stress reduces the task performance of CPMs while burnout can have a positive effect on it; (2) interpersonal performance is maximized with a moderate level of objective stress (i.e., an inverted-U-shaped relationship between these two variables) and increases in line with the improvement of the task performance of individuals; and (3) organizational performance has U-shaped relationships with both burnout and physiological stresses and is worsened by objective stress. Last, it is suggested to stakeholders that regular reviews of job allocation, stress appraisals, stress management workshops, group or individual counseling, and psychological treatment or physiotherapy be carried out to optimize the stress and the performance of CPMs.

Although ill-defined, the term “development management” is broadly understood to refer to the management of economic and social development, and the reduction of poverty, at various levels from macro to micro, in lower income countries. “Development management” pre-supposes “development managers”, but this term is even less well defined. Popular perceptions suggest that the concept is less easily applied at the macro level, but more readily at the micro, and also more to someone who is development-minded than someone whose job is to manage or implement development policies and processes, although the two can overlap. This perception – and its implications for management training – is followed through to suggest a profile of a development manager as someone who is forward-thinking, people-oriented, resourceful, flexible in his or her approach to means of achieving objectives, and morally committed.

The aim of this study is to investigate why managers use management accounting techniques. Therefore, a qualitative single case study was conducted in an innovative and product-driven firm in which management accounting is considered playing an important role for management and control. Taking a philosophical stance, the case study illustrates how managers use management accounting as a "technology of the self" by which means they reflect and act upon themselves in order to become legitimate actors within the firm. Accordingly, the study shows how management accounting can support managers' activities of self-control and self-constitution in the context of an institutionalised "regime of truth".

Purpose The large scale of construction projects and the coexistence of multiple logics in the construction field are sparking interest in applying an institutional perspective to investigate managerial issues in construction projects. However, only a few conceptual papers have been published thus far, and a literature review is needed to identify how that knowledge domain has developed. Based on the results of bibliometric analysis and content analysis, this study proposes potential future avenues for institutional theory in construction project management (ITCPM) studies.Design/methodology/approach This paper reports a bibliographic coupling analysis and a co-citation analysis conducted to identify existing research trajectories and determine the primary features of the current ITCPM literature. In addition, this paper employed a content analysis, identified the evolutionary stages of ITCPM knowledge over time and built a framework of existing research.Findings This paper first identified that the existing ITCPM studies evolve through three stages, and that the intellectual core of ITCPM studies can be categorized into five clusters. In addition, this paper proposes that future research can be extended from two existing streams: the institutional responses of project actors and the institutional outcomes of construction projects. This paper proposes several major questions that should be addressed by project management scholars working in both streams in order to develop an understanding of construction projects from an institutional perspective.Originality/value This is the first literature review of the existing body of knowledge based on a joining of institutional theory and construction project management literature. It uncovers knowledge gaps in contemporary research, notably a lack of broader consideration of how project actors respond to institutional environments and of the institutional outcomes of project management.

Copyright ? 2022 John Libbey Eurotext. The activity of the clinical pharmacy department has been increasing steadily over the last few years without the necessary organizational changes being undertaken. The position of clinical pharmacist technicians was gradually discredited and was given tasks without added value, with imperfect and insufficient training. Faced with a demotivated team, we undertook to rethink this position and the role of the clinical pharmacist technicians who are the direct liaison with the care services. To carry out this project, we used a business process reengineering method integrating the support steps of the EPEHo method. This method allowed us to involve the actors from the beginning of the project. Immersion with the clinical pharmacist technicians and the care services, local management, circuit mapping, collective intelligence workshops, problem-solving approaches, visual management are the different tools we used. In the end, 3 fields were rethought in the framework of this project. We developed the reception of new clinical pharmacist technicians by communicating with the departments and the pharmacy by different means before their arrival. Training was also structured by co-constructing a training plan and an accreditation grid. Finally, integration into the care teams has been increased in the hematology and intensive care units by setting up daily stand up meetings led by the pharmacy. This collaborative ‘‘bottom-up’’ approach enabled the successful start of the transformation of a clinical pharmacist technician faced with an activity that had deteriorated over the months and for which the stakeholders were demotivated.
