Objective : Based on extensive experience as a Medical English teacher, I aim to highlight some basic email writing problems that a non-native speaker of English may encounter in a clear, simple and easy-to-understand format The following examples also include those related to cultural challenges, but will mainly focus on content mood and style rather than basic grammatical errors. I will discuss the importance of creating a positive mood in an email, the ideal length for an email, and how best to end either a formal or informal email.

The problem of email spam has grown significantly over the past few years. It is not just a nuisance for users but also it is damaging for those who fall for scams and other attacks. This is due to the complexity intensification of email spamming techniques which are advancing from traditional spamming (direct spamming) techniques to a more scalable, elusive and indirect approach of botnets for distributing email spam messages. In this paper, we first discuss the sources and architectures used by the spamming botnets for sending massive amount of email spam. Then we present detailed chronicles of spamming botnets which systematically describes the timeline of events and notable occurrences in the advancement of these spamming botnets. This paper also aims to represent a comprehensive analysis of particular email spamming botnet detection techniques proposed in the literature. We attempt to categorize them according to both their nature of defense and method of detection, also revealing and comparing their advantages and disadvantages extensively. We also present a qualitative analysis of these techniques. Finally, we summarize the future trends and challenges in detecting email spamming botnets.

In this research, we empirically explore the effects of various design elements of email newsletters on consumers' email responses and their purchases. We capture the consumers' email responses using three metrics, namely email open, email click, and email reopen. We operationalize consumers' purchases as their spending on product items that are featured in email newsletters. Using a novel email marketing database, first, we model the influence of design elements of email newsletter on consumers' email responses at the individual consumer level. The email design elements constitute several email attributes, situational factors, and integrated marketing communication. Second, we quantify the effects of these three email responses, open, click, and reopen, on consumers' purchases. Our empirical results suggest a significant influence of email attributes, situational factors, and marketing communications on consumers' email responses. Furthermore, among open, click, and reopen, we find clicks tend to have the highest impact on consumers' purchase, followed by email reopening and opening. However, email newsletters with higher opening probability are more effective in influencing purchases than those email newsletters with higher reopening probability. Furthermore, consumers who indulge in all three email responses, namely opening, clicking, and reopening, tend to purchase the most. Results from our study offer several critical insights for email marketing strategy helping managers improving the effectiveness of email campaigns by careful consideration for the design elements of email newsletters.

Email mining is a process of discovering useful patterns from emails. Clustering techniques can be applied over email data to create groups of similar emails. An email can be represented as an object consisting of several attributes like from-mail-id, to-mail-id, subject, message, sending-time, attachments etc. To measure the distance between two email objects more accurately, normal clustering distance techniques could not be a good choice. Instead weighted matching of all important attributes is required to effectively measure the email document similarities, which can be used for creating email clusters. In this paper a weighted email attribute similarity based data mining model is proposed to for email clustering to discover email groups. Generally the most of the attributes in emails are text type, so text similarity techniques are used for measuring the similarity between pair of email objects. Custom user defined weights are assigned for the similarity measured between a pair of email attributes to calculate the similarity between pairs of emails. The proposed email clustering model is implemented using open source API's and Enron email corpus datasets.

Email has been one of the most commonly used tool for communication in the recent years and email management has evolved as a major challenge due to prevailing situation of online email congestion. This study presents a novel algorithm for automatic email response methodology in an Email Management System to minimize email overload. The proposed model uses Bayes classifier to categorize emails into classes and generate suitable replies to these classes using information extraction and template filling. Our research aims to intelligently automate email response using Naieve Bayesian classification and formulate probabilistic dictionaries for accurate information extraction. This research will help in reducing email overload and unavoidable congestion by employing a novel email response architecture for an email management systems.

We propose a framework, email licensing, that allows email users to determine whose messages and in what content and conditions are authorized to come into their inboxes. The idea is to treat email address as a data owned by the addressee, and any use of the data (that is, to send messages to the addressee) must be authorized by the person through the issue of licenses. Subject to laws, an email license (EL) represents a legal agreement between the sender and the recipient upon what type of messages can be delivered, and in what restrictions. EL also enables commercial email senders to adopt a more constructive and legitimate approach to deliver their emails by negotiating with and crediting their customers in reading their emails.

Triggered emails are personalized messages that are automatically sent as a response to specific actions or states of customers. Typical examples of this type of campaign include cross-selling recommendations, cart abandonment reminders, and re-engagement emails. Despite the widespread growth of these strategies, there has been no formal evaluation of their effectiveness. This paper investigates the impact of one type of triggered email campaign by using an experimental approach. We identify customers who had recently browsed the website of a multichannel retailer but had abandoned the process before making a purchase. Approximately half of the sample was randomly selected to receive automated emails with different configurations, while the other half receive no message at all. Comparison of the sales of these two groups indicates that browse abandonment emails have increase revenues in the online channel and in the triggered category. In terms of the design of the campaign, we found that the implementation of triggered emails plays an important role in their effectiveness. In this regard our result indicates that retargeting based on longer navigation histories is associated with larger conversions and that recommendations of wider assortments are associated with larger revenues.
