We are close to a tipping point when the government will cross the 50 percent threshold, aligning itself to become the majority payer for all healthcare treatments and services. Under current estimates, the government will cross this threshold by 2017, but this may come sooner if either of the Democratic presidential hopefuls, Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, makes a major investment in healthcare reform, which is estimated to cost dollar100 billion (see Figure 1). 收起
