Decreases were recorded in certain regions li... 展开 In 2004 the potato production area in Germany increased by 1% to 281 000 ha. The highest increases were in Niedersachsen with 5% for early potatoes and 4.4% increase for main potatoes. Decreases were recorded in certain regions like Bayern (-15%). The UK, the Netherlands, Belgium and France recorded also single digit increases of seed potato production areas. There were 22 important cultivars ( >1% of area) in the 2004 campaign. The following were grown on more than 3% of the area: Agria (6.6% or 1250 ha), Kuras (6.5%), Marabel (4.3%), Cilena (3.8%), Karlena (3.5%), Princess (3.5%) and Saturna (3.3%). Of the 17 new cultivars added in 2004, 3 were very early, 4 early, 6 semi-early (3 for table consumption and 3 for processing), 2 semi-late and 2 late cultivars for processing. Only five cultivars were removed from the German national list. Nematode resistance was present in 89.6% of registered cultivars in Germany.
