The above article, published online on 5 April 2022 in Wiley Online Library (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com), has been retracted by agreement between the authors; the journal Editor in Chief, Matthew Huber; the American Geophysical Union; and Wiley Periodicals LLC. The retraction has been agreed because of an error with the data; the chlorinity of the porewaters from DSDP site 379/379A was used in modeling, instead of the salinity. This error has consequences for the interpreted history of the Black Sea salinity.
