Although widely available, ERCP is technically challenging and is associated with the highest rate of severe complications among gastroentero-logic procedures. To evaluate and compare the clinical appropriateness of ERCP in a variety of practice settings, it is important to have a thorough understanding of its utilization, success rate, and complications.
