The Gallery attracted 61 posters and 38 video entries from an int... 展开 The 26th Annual Gallery of Fluid Motion was held at the November 2008 meeting of the American Physical Society's Division of Fluid Mechanics, in San Antonio, Texas. The Gallery attracted 61 posters and 38 video entries from an international group of researchers, who presented a wide range of excellent experimental and computational results. The entries showcased the amazing variety, intricacy, and beauty of fluid mechanics at all scales, from atoms to clouds.Two different panels of experts spent a long time in the difficult task of judging each poster and video entry in the Gallery based on aesthetic impact, scientific originality, as well as the ability to convey the scientific information intended by the authors. Excerpts from the six posters and five video entries with the highest ranking are presented in the pages that follow. 收起
